There is a difference between magic and magick.

Magick, as it is known and practised in the Nechtan Cameron world, is something older, harder, and far more expensive. It is not a toy, a shortcut, or a limitless power. A Druid may heal, protect, sense the flow of energy, influence the elements in limited ways, or touch the boundaries of time itself. The greatest among them can work with forces most people never suspect exist.

     Yet none of this is free. Magick of this kind is not granted to everyone. It is passed through tradition, through chosen bloodlines, and through the long discipline of the Orders. Those who inherit or earn it carry not only power but the weight of what that power can do if it is misused.
